Scalp Micropigmentation final result — My Transformation Perth

The basics

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation is the only 100% effective solution for hair loss — including thinning hair, receding hairlines, pattern baldness, alopecia, and hair transplant scarring.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigmentation into the scalp. The results create the appearance of tiny hair follicles that help thicken and restore the look of fuller hair.

If you are starting to thin, recede, or if you are completely bald — we can give you the natural look of real hair. Administered by a trained specialist, the hair tattoo will give your hair the look of close-cropped hair or simply make it look thicker.

It is the best permanent cosmetic treatment to disguise balding or thinning hair. SMP works by delivering a bespoke, non-metallic pigment immediately beneath the epidermis using a very short, thin needle. Each dot is perfectly colour-matched to your existing follicles to create the illusion of far greater density.

Every case is different — which is why we offer a free consultation and honest advice on all options available to you.

Treatment — Male Pattern Baldness

Using SMP to Treat Male Pattern Baldness

Hair loss from male pattern baldness doesn't pose any health risks — but its effects are almost always permanent, and many men experience anxiety, self-consciousness, and a loss of self-esteem as a result.

Unlike SMP, other treatment options come with serious limitations. Here's how they compare:

Hair Transplants

Limited — Risky

Hair transplants involve transplanting a section of scalp that still has hair growth onto a thinning area. Unfortunately these procedures can be extremely painful and expensive, produce significant scarring, and in many cases do not result in successful regrowth of hair.

Hairpieces & Wigs

Non-Permanent

Wigs and hairpieces are another option for men experiencing hair loss. Unfortunately, many men experience anxiety about the non-permanent nature of this option — particularly the fear that the hairpiece could unexpectedly be displaced in public.

Prescription Medications

Often Ineffective

Prescription medications claim to stop hair thinning from male pattern baldness. Unfortunately, for many men by the time they start using these drugs, their hair loss has already progressed beyond the point where medication is effective. Some also carry serious side effects.

Scalp Micropigmentation

100% Effective

Unlike other options, SMP offers an effective, guaranteed, and cost-effective treatment for male pattern baldness. Dots of pigment are added to your scalp, carefully matched to your skin tone and hair colour, resulting in the appearance of a full head of close-shaved hair.

Treatment — Hair Loss & Thinning Hair

What Causes Hair Loss & Thinning Hair?

Hair loss and thinning can affect men and women of any age. Understanding the cause helps determine the best treatment approach — SMP is effective regardless of the underlying reason.

🧬

Male & Female Pattern Baldness

Androgenetic alopecia — the most common cause. Hereditary and affects up to 50% of men and women by their 40s.

💆

Extreme Stress

Significant physical or emotional stress can push hair follicles into a resting phase, causing noticeable shedding weeks or months later.

🤱

Hormonal Changes

Pregnancy, menopause, thyroid conditions, and other hormonal imbalances are common triggers of temporary or permanent hair loss in women.

💊

Medications

Chemotherapy, certain prescription drugs, and other treatments can cause temporary or permanent hair loss as a side effect.

🥗

Poor Nutrition

Crash dieting, iron deficiency, and poor nutrition deprive hair follicles of essential nutrients, leading to thinning and shedding.

🔥

Scarring & Burns

Scars from accidents, surgery, or hair transplants (FUT/FUE) destroy follicles permanently. SMP is highly effective at camouflaging these areas.

💪

Traction Alopecia

Hair pulled tight by braids, weaves, or extensions damages follicles over time — presenting as hairline loss along the pull areas.

🛡️

Systemic Diseases

Conditions including lupus, endocrine disorders, and autoimmune diseases can trigger hair loss as the body's immune system attacks follicles.

Losing your hair can be a traumatic experience. It can have a particularly negative effect on your sense of self and emotional wellbeing. A full head of hair is often associated with beauty and a positive self-image — which is why finding an effective solution matters so much. SMP treats all of these causes and provides a result that no other treatment can match.

Treatment — Scars & Alopecia

Types of Alopecia SMP Can Treat

Scarring to the head can occur from accidents, alopecia, or hair transplants. SMP is an excellent technique to camouflage all affected areas — giving you back your confidence. Here are the four main types:

Most Common · Up to 50% of Adults

Androgenetic Alopecia

The most common form — hereditary and affecting up to 50% of all men and women by their 40s. For men it manifests as receding at the temples, sometimes followed by thinning at the crown, eventually leaving the classic horseshoe ring of hair around the base of the head.

For women it presents as a more general thinning across the top and back of the head, usually leaving the hairline intact — though the condition can progress to a state of complete loss in the affected area.

SMP effectively recreates density and natural hairline appearance for all stages of androgenetic alopecia — for both men and women.

Stress-Related · Circular Patches

Alopecia Areata

This presents as circular patches of hair loss which can be partial or total — usually brought on by stress or triggered by autoimmune conditions. The affected areas can appear anywhere on the scalp, sometimes in clusters, and can vary significantly in size.

SMP is highly effective at camouflaging patchy alopecia areata — blending the pigmented areas seamlessly with surrounding hair to make the patches completely invisible.

Body Change Triggered · Any Age

Telogen Effluvium

The second most common form, it can affect anyone at any age. It is a broad term covering hair loss triggered whenever the body is going through major changes — hormonal shifts, fever, severe illness, childbirth, or chemotherapy can all generate conditions that push follicles into the dormant telogen phase.

This presents the same way regardless of trigger — an increase in follicles stuck in the resting phase, causing widespread shedding. SMP adds the illusion of density across the entire affected area without touching or damaging any remaining follicles.

Tension-Related · Hairline Loss

Traction Alopecia

This occurs when the hair is consistently pulled — caused by hairstyles like braids, weaves, and extensions. It usually presents along the hairline where the pulling is greatest. The current popularity of hair extensions has seen a significant increase in demand for treatment.

Caught early, some recovery of hair growth is possible. SMP is an excellent treatment to camouflage the affected areas while recovery occurs — or as a permanent solution if the follicle damage is extensive — so you can again start to feel your best.

Women's hair loss

SMP for Women's Thinning Hair

Women's hairlines rarely recede like men's. Instead, hair loss in women usually begins radiating from the top of the head — slowly spreading across the scalp. SMP provides an effective solution without any change to your hairstyle.

For women experiencing hair thinning, the approach is completely different from men's SMP. Rather than creating a shaved-head appearance, we add pigment between your existing hairs — creating the illusion of far greater density without touching your style, length, or colour.

This solution provides camouflage with no damage to existing follicles. SMP is applied using a bespoke, non-metallic pigment immediately beneath the epidermis — matched perfectly to your existing hair colour to create a completely natural result that nobody can detect.

Whether your thinning is from androgenetic alopecia, hormonal changes, stress, or any other cause — the result is the same. You walk out looking like you have a full head of thick, healthy hair.

Treatment — Hair Transplant Scars

SMP for Hair Transplant Scars

Had a hair transplant and left with scarring? SMP is the most effective way to camouflage both FUT strip scars and FUE punch scars — making them completely invisible.

SMP for hair transplant scar camouflage Perth — My Transformation

FUT Strip Scars

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) surgery leaves a linear scar across the back of the scalp where the strip of skin was removed. This scar is often wide, highly visible when the hair is cut short, and cannot be hidden without growing hair long enough to cover it.

SMP deposits colour-matched pigment directly into and around the scar tissue, blending it seamlessly with the surrounding follicle pattern. The result is a scar that is completely invisible — even with a shaved head.

FUE Punch Scars

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) leaves hundreds of tiny circular punch scars scattered across the donor area at the back and sides of the scalp. While individually small, collectively they create a visible dotted pattern — particularly on lighter skin tones or with short hair.

SMP fills each individual punch scar with a pigment dot that matches the surrounding follicles exactly — making every scar disappear into the natural scalp pattern. The result is indistinguishable from untreated scalp even under close inspection.

Whether your transplant was performed 2 years ago or 20 years ago, SMP can be applied to the scar area at any point — with no risk to the surrounding hair or healed tissue.

Colour Matched Precisely

Pigment is custom-blended to match your exact scalp tone and surrounding hair colour — so the treated scar area looks identical to the rest of your scalp.

🛡️

Safe on Scar Tissue

Scar tissue responds differently to pigment than normal skin. Michael has extensive experience treating both FUT and FUE scars and understands exactly how to adjust technique for optimal results.

🔍

Undetectable Even Up Close

The finished result is completely undetectable — even under direct examination. Clients report that their barbers have no idea the scar was ever there.

Treatment — Accident & Surgery Scars

SMP for Scalp Scars & Scarring

Scarring to the scalp from accidents, surgery, burns, or other causes can be effectively camouflaged with SMP — restoring a natural, even appearance across the entire scalp.

Scalp scars — whether from accidents, surgical procedures, burns, or injuries — permanently destroy hair follicles in the affected area. Because the follicles are gone, hair will never regrow in that spot. SMP is the only treatment that can restore the appearance of hair where follicles no longer exist.

How it works: Michael uses colour-matched pigment to deposit dots into and around the scar tissue, carefully replicating the follicle pattern of the surrounding scalp. The technique is adapted to account for the different texture and pigment absorption characteristics of scar tissue — ensuring a consistent, natural-looking result.

Depending on the size, depth, and age of the scar, the treatment may require 1–3 sessions to achieve a fully blended result. A free consultation allows Michael to assess the scar in person and give you an accurate picture of what can be achieved.

Common scar types we treat: accident injuries · surgical scars · burn scars · alopecia scarring · hair transplant scars · childhood injuries
